Willie Mack Hill, Jr. is hip-hop enthusiast, Southerner, mentor, roller coaster aficionado, systems engineer, graduate student, and (future) data scientist. His major interests pertain to the lyrical analysis and cultural exploration of hip-hop music. His goal is to provide scholarly commentaries proving the works of hip-hop artists deserve analysis comparative of other authors.
Willie is currently a graduate student in George Washington University’s Data Analytics Masters program. He hopes his pursuit of this Masters and increased knowledge of data analytical methods will assist in his hip hop studies. He is particularly interested in learning how to build relationships between datasets, perform high-level statistical analyses, and execute data mining applications.
Willie is a 2000 graduate of the University of Florida with a B.S. in Industrial and Systems Engineering. He has also earned graduate certificates from Drexel University and Villanova University in Operations Leadership & Organizational Management and Black Belt, Lean 6 Sigma respectively. He currently works as a system engineer in the Washington, DC area.
Willie is also very passionate about mentorship, community involvement, and STEM education. He is longtime and active member of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE). He has participated in informal and formal mentoring programs including Big Brothers and Big Sisters.
As stated earlier, Willie loves hip-hop music. He’s been an avid listener since his preteen days. He’s seen over 60 acts in concert. His favorite artists include Outkast, UGK (RIP C!), Big K.R.I.T., A Tribe Called Quest (RIP Phife!), Scarface, Pac & BIG (RIP), the Roots, and Run the Jewels.
